My research focuses on trends in the American horror film industry since 1994 including self-referential horror, the resurrection of the 1980s horror franchises and hybridisations, the horror remake, torture porn and Wes Craven as an industrial auteur and brand name. I'm combining film analysis with industrial-economic research, postmodern theories and genre criticism to approach the American horror film from an angle other than psychoanalysis - a mode of study of which it has frequently been the subject of.
