About
Garance Marechal joined the University of Liverpool Management School in September 2003 as a Lecturer in Strategic Management. She holds a PhD from Paris-Dauphine University, a MBA (Grande Ecole diploma) from ESC Tours (now ESCEM), a MRes in Marketing and Strategy from Paris-Dauphine University and a MA in Sociological Research from Lancaster University.
Her current research work in strategy investigates sensemaking, strategizing and reflexive processes in knowledge-intensive firms from a critical and discursive perspective. Her interests in qualitative methodology specialize in autoethnography, the use of reflection and reflexivity more generally, and sensuous approaches including visual methods. She also has a particular interest in the concepts of place, space, terroir, territorialisation and deterritorialisation.
She has convened streams and workshops at various international conferences including the EGOS Colloquium, the EURAM Conference, the Academy of Management Conference and the Art of Management and Organization Conference. She recently chaired a conference on the Dark Side of Organization, and she is currently editing a Special Issue on the same theme.
